| News |
- Parking:
Please remember, there is no baseball parking allowed on
the paved areas around the VFW building! This has been a
problem in the past, particularly on Sundays when there
is bingo at the VFW. On Saturdays and Sundays please do not park in front of or behind the VFW. Everyone's cooperation is necessary and appreciated!
- Concerns:
We have received comments from the neighbors around the
VFW with their concerns for the safety of the children and
damage to their property by our players as they "run to
Don's". The neighbors have had their grass and shrubs trampled,
garbage left behind, and they are worried about the traffic
and congestion on their streets. Parents, please do NOT
allow your young players to go to Don's unsupervised. They
are at risk of injury, and the neighbors have a legitimate
complaint about their property.
- Sponsors:
Local businesses can sponsor an MBA team by contacting Lori Mazrin at 344-0959. The fee to sponsor a team is $200,
or two teams for $350. The sponsor's name will be printed
on the back of the team jerseys, and the sponsor will receive
a plaque at the end of the season. We encourage players
and their families to patronize our sponsors. A list of
this years's sponsors will be posted on the bulletin boards
at the field and here. Advertising banners are also available
to businesses. These are hung on the outfield fences at
the both lighted fields for the entire season. The initial
cost of a banner is $400.00 per season. Renewal cost is
$350.00 for each season after the first year.
- General
Meetings: Held on the third Monday of each month starting at
8pm at the VFW Hall. Managers and coaches are encouraged
to attend to discuss policies and any problems encountered
during the season.
- Wickencamp
Fund: The Family of James R. Wickencamp have donated
money in his name to be used to subsidize families who may
not otherwise be able to afford registration fees. To be
considered for these funds, mail a letter of request to:
James R. Wickencamp Fund c/o MBA, P.O. Box 373, McHenry
IL 60050. or contact Vic Freund at vic320@comcast.net
- Volunteers:
Parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer their time
and become involved in the McHenry Baseball Association.
Some ways to become involved are: help at practices, help
with field maintenance and game preparation, or keep the
scorebook for your team. Participation in league events
such as the All-Star Picnic and field(s) clean-up day is also encouraged.
